The Christian tradition, and most especially the Eastern Orthodox Church, celebrates January 6th as Epiphany. It is a remembrance of the fabled visit of Magi, being led by a star, to honor the birth of a new monarch. Rev. Foote will use that story as a launching point to speak about the season we have just entered, one of lengthening daylight, and of the need to carefully tend our own inner balance of light and shadow.
Rev. Dr. Catherine Foote has lived on Whidbey Island for over twenty years. For most of that time she commuted to Seattle where she served as a pastor at University Congregational United Church of Christ. She recently retired from her Seattle ministry and can now focus on tending the small flock of sheep on her Clinton farm. Catherine is the author of “Shepherding the Seasons, Stories of a Life with Two Flocks.”
