Joyful Effort

January 21 @ 10:00 AM 11:00 AM

Guest Speaker: Rev. Leslie Boies

Buddhism teaches various virtues and qualities we can cultivate to help us live our lives wholeheartedly and free from suffering. One of them is Joyful Effort. But what is that? And what does it look like in our daily lives? Join our guest speaker as she shares her “field notes” on practicing with Joyful Effort in the face of challenges large and small.

Leslie Boies lived at Green Gulch Farm Zen Center in the Bay Area for three years where she was lay ordained in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition by Tenshin Reb Anderson in 1993. After leaving Green Gulch, she completed her Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology in order to help groups and organizations work together more skillfully. She has worked as a consultant, coach and facilitator with nonprofits, government agencies, universities and health care organizations for over 25 years, primarily in the area of leadership and team development. In 2006-2007 she attended the Chaplaincy Institute in Berkeley, CA where she was ordained as an interfaith minister. She and her husband moved to Whidbey in 2018 and are delighted to call it home.
