with Mark Simpson
Eileen Soskin, piano
This is the second of three services in which the Rev. Melcher and UUCWI member Mark Simpson explore dimensions of mental illness and emotional well-being. Through poetry, reflections, and songs, they focus on the role of spirituality and spiritual practices in dealing with and healing mental illness. UUCWI friend Cheryl Lawrence joins us virtually to share her experience of the Tibetan Buddhist practice of Tonglen. Eileen Soskin, Mavis Cauffman, and Rev. Emily lead us in sung meditation, and Robert Schumann’s “Eusebius,” played by Eileen Soskin gives us another way into the theme. Note: The first service in the series was “Seeking Wholeness” on Sept. 18. The final service in the series “Seeking Belonging” is scheduled for Oct. 16.
