We talk frequently about how we treasure our community called UUCWI. Especially during this pledge time of year. But is it possible that our definition is too small for how we want to be in the world? Wendell Berry wrote extensively about his fictional Port William community, declaring “community is not just proximity; it is the active, loving, and voluntary membership in a place.” Is Berry’s definition different than ours? Let’s explore how we might expand our meaning of the word and how that manifests in our lives.
