From WWII to ICE in the streets, Allan Ament has lived in the proverbial “interesting times.”  Reviewing major events occurring in the 83 years of his life, Allan notes some of the influences on his actions and the more universally applicable lessons he has gleaned from the experiences.

After successful careers as a lawyer, spa owner, educator, and volunteer for South Whidbey non-profits, Allan memorialized his decade plus as his wife’s caregiver in the book Learning to Float: Memoir of a Caregiver-Husband; he has also published in academic, professional and popular journals.  Since his retirement and the death of his wife last September, he has successfully dedicated himself to doing as little as possible and improving his napping style.
