UUCWI is an Equal Opportunity employer and we welcome applications from persons of color and from persons without regard to their race, gender, or sexual orientation. We hope to begin reviewing applications by May 1, 2018, and will be in touch with applicants within a few weeks thereafter. Assuming there is a reasonable match between your qualifications and our selection criteria, the Search Committee will want to meet with you and hear you deliver a sermon.
By June 24, we hope to have selected a single candidate to invite to a Candidating Weekend, and have reserved July 21-22 for that occasion. You are encouraged to keep that date free of other commitments, if possible. We are flexible regarding starting dates for our new minister, but we hope for a start by the beginning of September.
We are a committee of seven congregation members. Our bios are in the packet. A member of our committee, Denise McIntyre-Workman, serves as our contact person and confidential email correspondence should go to her at webreathetogether@UUyahoo.com.
We will endeavor to keep your candidacy confidential prior to your selection as our final
candidate; for this reason your communications about the opening will be only from members of
this committee or the Pacific Western Region office. If you receive communications from any other congregation member, it is unrelated to your candidacy and you need not (and should not, if you prefer confidentiality) reveal or discuss your interest in our position with them.
Our website, uucwi.org, also offers abundant information about UUCWI, including a description of current and upcoming services, shared ministry programs, and congregational committees. In case you have not discovered it, the formal job posting is on our website under the ministry tab. In addition, our Facebook page offers an interesting window into our community.
You may also wish to browse websites about Whidbey Island to get better acquainted with our island paradise. Whidbey Life magazine (whidbeylifemagazine.org) celebrates the island culture with beautiful pictures; one of our members is its graphic designer and her partner is one of its photographers.
At least two members of our Committee will be attending the PWR Assembly in Portland April 26-29. If you plan to be there, we would be interested in meeting with you at that time. If your travel brings you near us at another time, please communicate with us regarding the possibility of meeting face-to-face.
Please feel free to write, email, or call [(301) 524-3353 Denise] with questions or comments or to add to the information you have provided about yourself. We look forward to reviewing the materials you have submitted and getting to know you better.
