Carolyn Goodenough

I have been painting for 30 years. After taking drawing classes at Seattle Community College and Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle I attended The Painting Experience Workshop Intensives with Michelle Cassou and Stewart Cubley in San Francisco. It was there that I began to experience painting as an intuitive process.

I work without a conscious plan. To begin a painting I choose a color and begin to paint or draw an initial shape or image, small or large, then stroke by stroke or dot by dot, color by color, I moves through an intuitive process until the painting feels complete. Cross-cultural icons, imaginary images, people, animals, birds and trees show up in my work. Circles and geometric shapes also appear as I enjoys the sense of wholeness, unity and well being they create. I feel my painting process to be soul work for me.
