I remember being a neophyte minister, back in the year 1999, and learning that our UUMA chapter had a yearly tradition, at our spring retreat, of having one of our longtime, seasoned ministers speak about their life in ministry, the twists and turns it had taken them, the visions (or nightmares) that came with each bend in the road, but most importantly, the insights, the lessons, the “aha’s” with each new understanding that came with each new ministry experience.

On April 14, we will look together at our mutual odyssey, as pastor and congregation here on Whidbey Island, and the lessons we learned together. We’ll move from self-reflection to examining our learnings, together and individually. And we’ll look at how those learnings have guided us to the places we are today. I hope that we will see together the significant growth UUCWI has made over the years, with leaders both elected and informal, and that the insights of the past years will guide your future.
