The goal of the Whidbey Veterans Resource Center is to support Veterans and their families. Our mission is to connect, educate, and serve Veterans, their families, and their communities. Whidbey Island has among the highest percentage of Veterans of any area in the US. Our Veterans are served by VA centers that are not easily accessible. Many Veterans deal with the effects of their military service, some soon after end of service, and some many years after separation. The WVRC helps fill a need for these Veterans by assisting with transportation, sponsoring discussion groups, helping Veterans enroll with the VA, and advocating for their VA rights. The WVRC is a non-profit 501c3 organization. The WVRC is not about justifying wars, but is about taking care of those who have served.
Accomplishing these goals takes some effort by our volunteers and it takes some financial support. Fundraisers are our source for the financial support. One such fundraiser is a Musical Cabaret scheduled for April 20 and 21, 2018. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island is generously hosting these events at no cost. Over a dozen of Whidbey’s most popular performers are donating their talents. We have found an anonymous donor to match our fundraising up to $10,000. So we are optimistic that we can raise funds to cover continued operations of WVRC.
